Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
Introduction:
Hypertension is a chronic condition where the force of blood against the artery walls is too high, increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems.
Symptoms:
Often silent. Some patients may experience headaches, dizziness, nosebleeds, or fatigue.
Who it affects:
More common in adults over 40, especially those with obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, high salt intake, or a family history.
Diagnosis:
• Repeated blood pressure measurements
• Blood tests for kidney function and cholesterol
• ECG or echocardiogram in certain cases
